Only the controls will appear while we are in the navigation mode. When you start it, you will ask us at the bottom of the screen if we want to “follow the playback”, which will open Apple Music, Google Play Music or Spotify, and return to Google Maps automatically.

If it does not appear, you should go to the Google Maps settings. Open the Google Maps menu by pressing the three horizontal stripes button at the top left. Then, press the cogwheel that appears in the upper right of the menu. Enter "Navigation" and there you will find the settings to configure navigation as you like.
