The tenth anniversary iPhone is being talked about so much and so well that I am afraid to take the disappointment of the century. Logically, until something is not officially presented everything is rumor and these rumors are usually based on the information that some analysts shuffle. The most famous in the world Apple and the most successful when talking about the plans of Cupertino is Ming-Chi Kuo, who has re-published a note for its investors in which he speaks of what is now known as iPhone 8.
Much is being said that the iPhone 8 will arrive with a glass case and the Taiwanese analyst believes that this change would be necessary to support wireless charging. Even more, Kuo says that Pegatron will be the only provider of this iPhone charging system that will be presented in about 10 months. And it is that to be able to charge without connecting a cable it is necessary that in the back there is a special material different from many of the metal alloys that are used in smartphones.
Will the iPhone 8 have wireless charging?
We believe that one of the reasons why the new iPhone will change the metal case to the glass is to support wireless charging. To ensure superior performance, we believe it will be more appropriate for EMS providers to develop and create wireless chargers because that way comprehensive tests can be performed. As Hon Hai (Foxconn) needs to deploy more resources to develop and produce OLED iPhone, we believe Pegatron will be the only provider of the wireless charger.
The famous analyst has not made it clear whether it will be all 2017 iPhone that will support this type of charging, but he hopes there will be more compatible devices in 2018. This would suggest that there are chances that Apple will launch an iPhone 8 with wireless charging and another two others that would continue charging with cable or that everyone could support the load, but there would be models that would arrive without the wireless charger, something I personally would not understand. What does not make it clear is whether the wireless charging that Apple would use in 2017 would be real or not, that is, that the iPhone could be used at a certain distance from the charging base or if it should be put on top of it like the rest of the phones mobiles that exist today.
In any case, we are talking about a report presented today about something that has to come in almost a year. It is true that Kuo is quite right in his predictions, but we will have to keep waiting to see if he does this time. What do you think?
