Apple is cleaning in its stores and is beginning to stop selling products that do not offer HomeKit support. Although in the last keynotes of the company we have not seen that great importance has been given to the home automation environment, the truth is that we cannot rule out that 2016 is the year in which the renewals of the operating systems are focused on bringing us novelties in this department
So, at this time we can no longer find two of the electronic locks that the company sold in its stores and on its online website. It's about the August Smart Lock and the Kwikset Kevo Wireless-Enabled Deadbolt. Neither of these two products had integration with HomeKit. They are electronic locks that connect to our iPhones through Bluetooth.
No Apple spokesperson has confirmed that these two products have been removed because they do not present HomeKit, but the fact that the company continues to market the lock Schlage Sense Smart Deadbolt, which does present HomeKit, seems to confirm the news.
Another product that Apple has stopped marketing is the switch Belkin's WeMo.
Apple wants to focus on home automation compatible with its ecosystem and hence it has removed these products. Hopefully 2016 is the year in which the company begins to enhance HomeKit and all compatible accessories.
