Not forgetting your focus on users gamers, The Razer Blade 15 aims to establish itself as an alternative that covers a larger segment, even taking space away from more traditional laptops, such as Apple's MacBook Pro. We compare the Razer Blade 15 vs. MacBook Pro to assess whether the graphic power of the first be sufficient to defeat the processor performance of Apple's high-end equipment.
Design
Generally, Razer's hardware resembles that of a black-painted MacBook. However, that changed with Blade 15, which looks more square, although it keeps the elegant lines and low profile of its predecessors. The screen bezels were also reduced, but the one on the upper side is larger, so the webcam is still mounted in the usual place.
The MacBook Pro presents, as it usually is, a silver paint design and work that makes it very different from Razer's aesthetics, although the color option Space gray It resembles a little. However, it is also thinner and lighter than the Razer Blade 15.
It does not offer such versatility in terms of ports. While some MacBook Pro have up to four Thunderbolt 3 ports, all are USB-C, while Razer's computer has only a single USB-C Thunderbolt 3 and three USB-A 3.1 ports, in addition to HDMI and Mini DisplayPort to connect external screens
The keyboards are also remarkably different. While they are better than their predecessors, Apple is still indebted to its "butterfly" keyboard. Except for the unusual size of the upward arrow, which caused some confusion, Razer's offers the greatest comfort.
The MacBook Pro has a touch bar as an alternative input, but we were not convinced of its use. Anyway, you can give it new capabilities with some practical third-party applications.
Performance
Considering that one of these computers is designed for games and the other is not, it is not surprising that the Razer Blade 15 is more powerful, even if the Pro is the best MacBook available.
The entry-level Razer Blade 15 starts at $ 1,800 dollars and includes an eighth-generation Intel Core i7-8750H CPU with 16 GB of RAM. In addition, it has an Nvidia GTX 1060 Max-Q graphics card for its 1080p IPS monitor. There are alternatives with a GTX 2080 Max-Q GPU, a 1080p screen with 240Hz and a 4K option, but prices reach up to $ 3,300 dollars. Anyway, you always have the possibility to expand your capabilities with an external GPU, using Razer's Core V2 external graphics cabinet.
The MacBook Pro 15, on the other hand, starts at $ 2,399 dollars with a ninth-generation Intel Core i7 CPU, 16 GB of RAM and a Radeon Pro 555X graphics processor. Alternatively, you can choose an i9 processor and a Radeon Pro Vega 20 graphics card. While the CPU defeats the Razer i7, the best graphics card on the MacBook will have no choice with the GTX 2080. One of the advantages of the MacBook is Its 2,880 x 1,800 pixel screen, which is standard for all versions. It does not support high update rates, which is not so relevant for a team that is not game oriented.
The MacBook also offers better storage alternatives. While the Blade 15 only provides a capacity of up to 512 GB PCIe, the MacBook Pro comes equipped with up to 4 TB of space on a solid state disk.
Portability

One of the classic problems with gaming laptops is that they are difficult to move. The Blade 15 is Razer's best effort so far, but it's still heavier than the MacBook Pro. The Blade 15 measures 13.98 x 9.25 x 0.7 inches and weighs 4.63 pounds, compared to 13.75 x 9.48 x 0.61 inches and 4.02 pounds of Apple's computer.
The Razer Blade has a battery of 80 watts per hour, but its hardware makes it less efficient than the Apple alternative. I gave just over seven hours in our video loop tests and just under four and a half hours in web browsing. The 15-inch MacBook Pro, meanwhile, yields 10 hours in video playback and seven hours and 37 minutes in web browsing. Like the weight and size, what you get with the Razer is impressive considering its internal hardware, but the MacBook Pro is still more portable.
Scale profit your money

The updates made by Apple in 2019 transformed the MacBook Pro 15 into a much more capable computer. For example, its high-end i9 processor surpasses the Razer Blade i7, has a magnificent display, good battery life and a slightly lighter frame. That said, the Razer Blade 15 model is much more capable in graphics and has a better keyboard. Battery life and weight are not so different as to be important factors when making a decision.
Ultimately, what you choose depends on the use you are going to give it. If you execute intensive tasks with the processor or prefer the MacOS operating system, you should choose the MacBook Pro. But the Razer Blade 15 is a better computer, especially when you consider its graphic power and its most comfortable keyboard.
