The mini-LED technology can land in the Apple catalog in 2020

Apple will be planning to launch four to six products in the next few years with mini-LED screens, according to the renowned analyst Ming-Chi Kuo.

The range will likely include a 12.9-inch high-end iPad Pro with an A14X chip, which may debut in the third quarter of 2020, and a 16-inch MacBook Prode, which will appear a quarter later, MacRumors reported.

According to Kuo, who had already talked about it in September 2019, the mini-LED screens “will significantly improve the productivity and entertainment experience” of the devices.

Earlier, the analyst said that these screens will allow products to be thinner and lighter, in addition to offering high contrast and a wide range of colors.

The adoption of the mini-LED will also allow Apple to further reduce its dependence on Samsung, which is its parts supplier. Kuo has believed that the mini-LEDs for the devices are likely to be manufactured by LG instead of Samsung.

Either way, the market is generous in developers of similar products, including Epistar, Zhen Ding, Radiant Opto-Electronics, Nichia, Avary Holding and TSMT.

The expert explained that the screens will contain around 10,000 LEDs and will offer a quality similar to an OLED screen, while avoiding the burning problems that may affect the latter.

But the latest technology is also expensive. From now on, we are likely to see only mini-LEDs in Apple's high-end products and not entry-level devices.

If you like the idea and you have among your plans to get one of these devices as soon as they are launched, you must prepare to pay a very expensive value. It is also likely that you will only find these screens in the upper levels of the iPad and MacBook Pro families, not in the range devices such as MacBook Air.
