Apple Puerta del Sol

Following the declaration of the state of alarm in Spain by COVID-19, Apple has taken exceptional measures to fight the coronavirus and the company has just announced that in Spain, as of today, all its official stores are closed.

"In our goal of continuing to support work to contain and manage the spread of COVID-19, our priority remains the health and safety of all people in the communities we serve. With that in mind, our stores in Spain will be closed until further notice. We understand that customers may need Apple support during this difficult time, and we will ensure that our online and phone support, as well as the online store, remain open to customers. We will closely monitor the situation and hope to reopen our stores as soon as possible."

This means that we will not be able to buy devices or receive support from Apple workers, and although this may be a nuisance for customers, it is certainly understandable due to the current situation. But Spain is not the only country in which Apple Store will be closed as the company has announced a global closure until March 27 in all its Apple Store except in China, which have already reopened after controlling the virus.

Coronavirus also hits Apple

It is certainly an extraordinary measure that has never happened before. At the moment they will reopen on March 27, although Apple has assured that it will inform about the next steps. And we saw that WWDC 2020 will be held exclusively online to avoid contagions by the coronavirus for the first time in its history.

Finally, Tim Cook himself has wanted to thank all those who were fighting against the virus from Apple:

"The entire Apple family is indebted to the heroic doctors, nurses, researchers, public health experts, and public servants from around the world who have contributed every grain of sand to their spirit to help the world deal with this moment."
