Email How to Report Email Spam Commercial spam, also known as "Spam", may…

Commercial spam, also known as “Spam,” can be annoying. Worse, it can include bogus offers that could cost you time and money which you can report.

Take steps to limit the amount of spam you receive, and treat spam offers the same way you would treat an uninvited telemarketing sales call. Don’t believe promises from strangers.

Spam is a nuisance, so complaining is a natural reaction. But if you want to get rid of your spam email box, you must report it.

How to Report Spam?

There are a few ways to handle spam – all that junk and unsolicited email you always seem to have in your inbox:

  • You can click on it to see what it’s about, but it’s a bad idea.
  • It is an even worse idea to click on any link in the spam message.
  • You can report it immediately to your Internet service provider.
  • Usually there is a button somewhere that allows you to click on the message and then identify it as spam.
  • You can report it to a spam reporting service and let them take it to the next level.

Don’t Answer Spam

The “From” header in a spam email is almost always spoofed, which means that you are not a genuine person or organization with goodwill in mind, so respond with “Leave me alone!” The message is not the best thing to do.

In most cases, in fact, that will increase the amount of spam you receive because you have confirmed that there is a live person (you!) Reading the email at that email address. Sometimes that’s the kind of information a spammer or hacker wants, because then they know who to go after.

But nevertheless, the correct solution is not to simply tell your internet service provider that you received spamIt is also a good (and more effective) idea to inform the experts who are in charge of the network from which the email originated.

Some of this is related to business practices, but a lot is related to spam and hacking. As computer users, we play a role in helping to minimize misbehavior online by reporting it when we find it. And that’s the thing to do, if you think about it.
