Jimmy Wales has announced that he plans to develop a search engine that he would have in the name of “Wikiasari” or “Wikia”, as he has posted on a blog. According to the Wikimedia Foundation, which runs the Wikipedia.com website, this project has nothing to do with its foundation’s project and is independent of the online encyclopedia.
Wales promotes Wikia as “a new kind of search engine that relies on human intelligence to do what search algorithms cannot.” He also invites members of the Wiki community to help design the new search engine, which he describes as “an open source alternative for web searches.”
