Camera Raw 4.0 allows you to import RAW photo files from more than 150 digital camera models. Its main utility is due to the disparity between the different RAW file formats used by each of the digital camera manufacturers, so that the plug-in makes it possible for Photoshop to import these formats.
Support for the Lumiz DMC-FZ8 has been incorporated into this product review; a compact camera with an SLR design and equipped with a 12x optical zoom, a 7.2 mega-pixel sensor and optical image stabilization.
The DNG Converter application allows conversion from RAW formats to Adobe’s Unified DNG format.
Adobe indicates that the Camera Raw 4.0 plug-in is not compatible with versions of Photoshop prior to CS3 or Photoshop Elements 4.0.1.
