According to a report by NPD, last January the volume of Apple laptop sales placed this company among the five companies that sold the most computers of this type in the USA.
Apple ranks fifth in the laptop market, a position that was unthinkable just a few years ago. To be more exact, it accounts for 10.1 percent of the total market for portable systems in this country. Gateway has 12.7 percent of the market to get the fourth place, Lenovo, Toshiba and HP, respectively pick the third, second and first position of this list, as published in Bloomberg.
Apple’s iPod continues to lead its market, with a share of 72.7 percent of all MP3 players sold in the United States (almost nine times higher than the second on the list, which is none other than Sandisk with 8.9 percent of the market). Microsoft, with its Zune, takes 3.2 percent of the market to take third place, while Creative takes 2.9 percent of the total. For its part, Samsung has 2 percent of the market.
