Bose has launched a premium pair of sunglasses called Bose Frames in India. In addition to being a pair of sunglasses, it includes other features including wireless headphones, a microphone, and Bose’s AR audio functionality. Bose Frames begins shipping on June 20 at select Bose resellers and official stores.

The Bose Frames is priced at Rs 21,900 and comes in two size variants, including the Square and Angled Alto and the smaller Rondo. Weighing just 45g, Bose claims the lenses block up to 99 percent of UVA / UVB rays. The lenses can be replaced with other lenses from official Frames accessories that include a non-polarized blue gradient lens for both sizes. There are also separate polarized options for the two models, including Mirrored Silver for Alto and Mirrored Rose Gold for Rondo. These lenses are included in the Bose Frames lens collection, where the non-polarized lens is priced at Rs 1,990, while the polarized lens costs Rs 2,990.
Inside Bose Frames, each arm has an audio system on the pins that offers wireless audio, including a microphone and a multi-function button on the right. It can be used for Google Assistant and Siri commands, power and pairing, calls and commands, or to pause and skip songs. It has a companion app called Bose Connect that offers more controls and software updates.
It also comes with Bose’s audio augmented reality feature. It’s not the typical AR viewing experience you expect, but just an audio experience. The company says the sunglasses will know “where you are and what you’re dealing with with a 9-axis head movement sensor and the GPS on your iOS or Android device.” The feature is said to add an audio layer using the Bose AR apps that can be downloaded from the Bose Connect app.
The Bose Frames has a lithium battery and the company says it can run up to 3.5 hours in continuous playback and 12 hours in standby. It will take approximately two hours to fully recharge the device.
