Two US users have denounced Apple for what they say is misleading advertising by saying that their laptops can display millions of colors on their screen when some models only reach about a quarter of a million colors due to the limitations of their panel.
This limitation does not exist, for example when the laptop is connected to an external screen as it is restricted to the LCD panel of the computer. A user, disgusted with this fact has created the website http://colorblindmac.com in which he explains the technical details of the problem and the tools that can help to know if the panel of your laptop can really display millions of colors or needs make use of “dithering” techniques to achieve this number of tones.
