Just hours before DJI is ready to take the stage at their “Because Life Is Great” event in New York, an unannounced Osmo camera was completely leaked online (via DroneDJ). The DJI Osmo Pocket, which has been seen in numerous leaked images in recent days, is a small handheld gimbal with an attached camera. As the name implies, the Osmo Pocket is a much smaller model than DJI’s previous Osmo cameras, with a rumored $ 399 price tag that puts it head-to-head with GoPro’s high-end Hero 7 action camera. .
DJI’s mechanical gimbal is a much more traditional approach to image stabilization than the impressive HyperSmooth digital stabilization technology found in the GoPro Hero 7 Black. GoPro’s approach gives its Hero 7 camera a much smaller form factor that can be mounted on anything from helmets to surfboards, while the larger Osmo with a small touchscreen viewfinder on the handle allows a real stabilization, especially for vloggers.

There is no confirmation yet on the exact specifications of DJI’s upcoming camera. Initially, there was hope that it contained the same 1-inch sensor that could be found on the Mavic 2 Pro drone, but the leaked manuals and packaging suggest a lower 1 / 2.3-inch sensor. However, with the DJI event starting at 2pm ET later today, we won’t have to wait long to find out.
