This model is capable of digitizing any document in Word, Excel, PDF, PowerPoint, Outlook and JPG automatically, just by pressing its button to scan. It offers an optical resolution of 600 dpi, handles paper sizes up to A4, scans double-sided, has an automatic document feeder for up to 50 sheets and is capable of scanning up to 18 pages per minute on one side or 36 pages per minute at double sided.

At the same time, Fujitsu offers S500M purchasers the possibility to obtain a copy of Readiris Pro v11 and Cardiris 3.5 from IRIS (Scanned Document Management Applications) after registering their product.
The S500M is compatible with Mac OS X v10.4 computers (with both PowerPC and Intel processors) and connects to the Mac using USB 2.0 connectivity. The new scanner is priced at $ 495 and comes with the Standard version of Adobe Acrobat 7.0.
