Myst Online: Uru Live continues the story first introduced to Mac users over a decade ago by the original Myst game. The series of games is set in past times “Ages” created by an old man who has the ability to turn books into portals to other places that are creations of his imagination.
In Myst Online: Uru Live, the player takes on the role of an explorer tasked with examining the ruins of D’ni, the civilization described in Myst. The player and other explorers work as members of the D’ni Restoration Council to explore these domains and attempt to learn the secrets of the D’ni people.
Cider, a technology that allows Intel processor-based Macs to run games created for Windows on the Macintosh, without requiring the installation of Windows, and is the engine used in the creation of this game.
Myst Online is offered at a cost of $ 6.95 per month. Unfortunately, Myst Online: Uru Live is the only GameTap game for Mac at the moment.
The system requirements are Mac OS X 10.4.8 or later, an Intel Core Duo processor 1.83 GHz or better, 512 MB of RAM, ATI or nVidia graphics card, 3 GB of available hard disk space, and connection to broadband internet. GameTap indicates that Myst Online is not supported on Mac mini, MacBook, and iMac setups based on GMA 950 graphics.
