Owners of the Google Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL are facing various issues related to phone calls, according to a report by Android police. Complaints have ranged from call sound quality, inconsistent audio to microphone failures.
These call-related issues are apparently not isolated to a single telecom provider or device SKU on both the Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL in multiple countries. Pixel 3 and Pixel 3XL owners have also complained about the problem on Reddit and on the Google Pixel User Community forum.
According to a Pixel 3 XL user on the Google Pixel Community forum, the issues not only affect normal cellular calls, but they affect Wi-Fi calls as well. He said that even on most Wi-Fi calls you could hear a small voice from the other person, while the other person couldn’t hear it at all.
According to Reddit users and Google Pixel User Community forum users, these issues are intermittent and do not affect all calls and sometimes there are issues during call initiation while the rest of the call is perfectly fine. Currently, there are no credible solutions available to mitigate the problem, and Google has not issued any statement on the matter either.

Some users claim to have fixed the problem by disabling the Advanced Calling Mode or Enhanced 4G LTE features, which basically turn on support for VoLTE calls. However, some claim that this method does not work for them.
