HP has introduced the Scanjet N8400 series, which replaces the HP Scanjet 8350 and Scanjet 8390 document scanners. These new models allow automatic PDF file creation and instant scanner warm-up functionality.
The new models are aimed at facilitating productivity and include fast scanning features that allow scanning up to 35 pages per minute or 70 images per minute (for the Scanjet N8460) or up to 25 pages per minute or 50 images per minute ppm (with the Scanjet N8420 model), as indicated by the manufacturer.
They have a front control panel where the user has all the function buttons, in an orderly manner, to offer easy handling and quick selection of any of the custom scan profiles created by the scanner users. They also offer a direct copy function by pressing a copy button that sends scanned documents directly to the default printer.
It has an automatic document feeder that accepts originals of a minimum size of 14.8 x 14.8 cm and a maximum size of 21.6 x 35.6 cm, as well as optical character recognition (OCR) by software, a cycle recommended workload of up to 1,500 pages per day and “Instant Scanner Warm-up” feature. This feature means that between periods of inactivity it keeps the lamps in a scan-ready state using instant lamp warm-up.
