In the official stores we find a good number of applications for our mobile, but it often happens to us that we would like to modify some of its aspects, something that can be done if we clone applications with Cloner App.
Cloning applications gives us the option of being able to simultaneously log in to an application with different accounts without having two mobiles, it also allows us make changes to applications. It can be simple changes such as changing the icon that is predefined for the application or something more complex such as setting a password that prevents anyone who does not know it from accessing the application.
Other actions that can be carried out in cloned applications are disabling the automatic start and even blocking an application for data consumption, so that it can only work when it is connected to a WiFi network.
What is App Cloner?
App Cloner is a application cloner. What it does is create a copy of the applications that we have installed on our device.
The cloned apps can be run in parallel to the originals and work independently of them. One thing to keep in mind is that cloned app will not receive automatic updates.
The fact that the cloned application is not updated automatically is an advantage if we want to use an older version of an application whose update is not entirely to our liking.
Cloning applications can log in simultaneously and with different accounts in applications such as Facebook, WhatsApp or Skype and also do it from a single device.
Keep in mind that not all applications can be cloned and not all clones work well. When cloning occurs, if the application’s certificate needs to be checked, or if it has to interact with other applications from the same developer, it is quite likely that the cloned application will not function properly.
Some of the applications that can be cloned are:
- Amazon Kindle
- DropBox (except internal PDF viewer)
- eBay
- Facebook (only on Android 5.0 or later and only in English)
- Facebook Lite
- Firefox
- Flickr
- LINE
- Netflix
- Opera, Opera Mini
- Panorama
- Skype
- Spotify
- Swiftkey
- Telegram
- Threema
- Tumblr
- WordPress
- Yahoo Mail
Applications that cannot be cloned:
- Most Google apps
- BBM
- Chrome
- Evernote
- OneDrive
- Snapchat
- Skype for business
- Trello
- Viber
- YouTube (version 4.2.x)

Using App Cloner
After downloading and installing the application, when we access it the first thing we see is a series of warnings about the applications that can be cloned and those that cannot.
The app also informs us of the set of activities that we can carry out with the Pro version and gives us the opportunity to make the purchase at that time or leave the acquisition of the Pro version for a later time.
The full version offers the following features:
- Cloning Facebook Messenger
- WhatsApp cloning

When we enter the application menu we see two tabs. In the first one, the apps that we have installed are indicated and in the other the cloned apps.
We select the application that we want to clone. The application then gives us the options to change the name of the application, number the clone, replace the icon, flip the icon, rotate the icon, change the color of the icon, add a badge. We also see other options such as allowing backup, installing the clone on the external SD, deactivate the default opening, deactivate automatic start, remove widgets, exclude recent, block rotation, permissions, turn into an assistant app , enable multi-window, generate Google Maps API key, as well as special options for Android Wear and Smart TV.
Once we have selected the changes we want to make click on the blue check. A message appears indicating that the cloning is going to be carried out. We have the option to disable the appearance of this window each time we are going to make a clone.
Click on Accept and then a pop-up window informs us that to install the cloned apps we must go to Settings> Security> Unknown sources. Click on “Continue” and the cloning process begins.
Once the process is finished, we enable the unknown sources to be able to install the clone application.
If we go to the tab “Cloned APKS” we can see all the clones we have made. Here we can manage them, making a new clone, sharing it, reporting a problem or removing it directly.
The app has a clean interface that is very easy to use. It is entirely in Spanish and it is easy to find what you are looking for.
Clones made with App Cloner tend to work perfectly when it comes to applications that can be cloned. If any of the options are going to stop working in the cloned version, the app reports this at the time the cloning is being carried out.
