After announcing it in November of last year, Apple has officially launched its Self-Service Repair Program in the United States. The company has also assured that the program will arrive in Europe at the end of this year.
In addition, for now only those who want to repair an iPhone at home can use this program. Moreover, only if it is one of these models: iPhone SE 3, iPhone 12, iPhone 12 mini, iPhone 12 Pro, iPhone 12 Pro Max, iPhone 13, iPhone 13 mini, iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max.
Within a few months, this service should not only be available in Spain and other countries, but will allow you to repair other products from hardware of the company, such as Mac models with the Apple chip.
As long as you have the knowledge and skills necessary to repair your smartphone from home, the company will now give us one more option to fix the iPhone. Until now, you could only do it with all the guarantees in an Apple Store, an Authorized Service Provider or a store classified as an Independent Repair Provider.
How does Apple’s new Self Service Repair program work?
Those from Cupertino have just launched a new page, the Self Service Repair Store, where those interested can buy original Apple parts and the tools needed for repair, as well as consult the repair manual.
Apple allows you to order the corresponding parts to repair the battery, bottom speaker, camera, screen, SIM card slot, and Taptic Engine. That’s over 200 individual parts and tools that range from $0.10 to over $300, though you can get a discount if you return broken parts for recycling.
To use the service, the customer will first have to take a look at the repair manual of the product he wants to repair. Then, you can go to the self-service store and order the necessary parts and tools for said repair.
Among the tools that Apple offers, we find torque screwdrivers, repair tray, among others. You can rent a kit for $49, an ideal option if you just want to repair a product and need professional tools.
