Free Apple TV+ subscriptions extend through July

Apple has just extended the free trial period of Apple TV + until next November. That means if you got a free subscription in November 2019, you can continue to use the service for free until July 2021.

When Apple introduced Apple TV+ in November 2019, its service on streaming including original series and movies, began offering a one-year free trial to anyone who buys a new iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, Mac, and Apple TV.

Back in the day, there wasn’t much content, but there’s no doubt that Apple thought it would have a lot more to offer to tempt subscribers when those free trials came to an end in November 2020.

In November 2019, no one could have anticipated the impact COVID would have on Apple’s production plans. Due to the pandemic, many productions had to stop, and the second seasons had to be postponed.

Given the situation, Apple extended the free subscription period in October. Back then, the company offered an extra three months to those who were enjoying the trial, going from a one-year free trial to a 15-month free trial.

At the same time, it ensured that those who had chosen to subscribe to the service did not feel left out, so Apple returned €4.99 per month to their Apple account.

This extended the trial period until February 2021, which you may have noticed is just around the corner. Thus, it is no surprise that Apple has decided to announce that it is extending the free trial again.

Now, the trial period will be extended until July 2021, which is six more months. In this way, the trial period that began in November 2019 will last a total of 21 months.

As has happened before, those who are already paying for an Apple TV+ subscription will receive a refund from Apple. Additionally, subscribers who pay for Apple TV+ as part of Apple One will also be refunded.

How will you know if your trial period has been extended?

We have an Apple TV + trial period that should expire on January 8, and for now we have not been told that it will be extended. However, if your test expires between now and next June, it will be extended until July, or at least that’s what they say in 9to5Mac.

It is possible that when the trial period expires, those users will receive such an extension. However, if you sign up now, we suspect you’ll only get the advertised free year, and not the 21 months that early subscribers will enjoy.

Extended Apple TV+ trial period

Some of the best series on Apple TV + will premiere a new season soon. But although Apple wants to blame COVID for the absence of content, the truth is that platforms such as Netflix, Disney and Amazon Prime have not had any problems.
